What about the Loddon Bridge park and ride?

by Prue Bray on 26 September, 2011

Last February in the budget papers for Wokingham Borough Council, the Lib Dems found a note that the park and ride was to close in February 2012 and that users would be warned about it in August this year.  We were not very happy.  We feel the Conservatives have completely mishandled the park and ride.  They have failed to give people confidence by tackling the flooding concerns, have reduced the frequency of the buses and put the fares up.   None of which was likely to boost usage.   We wanted the park and ride kept open.  It is a vital service for people travelling in to Reading.  The Conservatives proposals for -eventually- replacing it with a park and ride at Coppid Beech won’t fit the bill, because Coppid Beech is in the wrong place for people from Woodley.  We urged the council to find a way of keeping the park and ride open.

August has come and gone.   Users have not been warned it will close.

We hear rumours from Reading (Wokingham’s partner in the park and ride) that it will be staying open an extra year.  Wokingham have said nothing.   But I’m hoping the rumours from Reading are true.
