Maiden Erlegh School catchment

by Prue Bray on 6 July, 2011

You may have missed the special meeting held last week at Maiden Erlegh School by the Schools Adjudicator to discuss concerns about the changes to the catchment area.  You would not be alone, because the meeting was arranged at very short notice.  Apparently there are no minutes.

The walktomaidenerlegh campaign (well done to them for doing it)  have a comment thread which sheds some light:   http://tinyurl.com/MaidenErleghforum

One comment in particular I would like to draw attention to:  the one which says they got the impression that the school might be going to revisit the catchments now it is an academy, and had anybody else ever pointed out they might?   Well, yes, actually, the Lib Dems have been pointing that out all along.   In our election literature in Earley (and across the borough) we said:

‘Parents need to know that Maiden Erlegh has applied to become an academy. Once that happens, the council will no longer be in charge of deciding who goes there, so there is every possibility of more changes in a few years.’
