..all the Wokingham schools are open again from today (Tuesday 12th). They did their damnedest to clear the snow from their entrances, car parks, walkways etc. Secondary schools had the extra complication of needing to make sure the school buses could run. And some schools struggled to provide lunches. They did the very best they could.
And what was the reaction of our current MP, John Redwood? To ask a question in Parliament yesterday morning (Monday 11th January), as follows: Should not schools that have to close for snow find alternative days during the year when they can replace the missing education?
Now I am all in favour of maximising the educational opportunities for our children, but the thought process behind this question appears to be lacking any grasp of practicalities. You can’t just add days to the term willy-nilly, John. How does he suggest it’s done?
